Lord Bates

Lord Bates was Minister of State at the Department for International Development between October 2016 and July 2019. He was previously a Minister of State at the Home Office from May 2015 until March 2016. Lord Bates is a Conservative member of the House of Lords.
He worked, with others, to establish one of the first City Technology Colleges in Gateshead dedicated to delivering academic excellence in a socially deprived area of Tyneside.
He has served as Director of Research & Consulting for Oxford Analytica – an international consulting firm using a network of academics for Oxford and universities around the world to undertake research in economic, business and political trends.
In 2011 he embarked on a solo 3,000 mile walk from Olympia in Greece to London to raise awareness for the Olympic Truce.
