Khaled Hashmi
Khaled Hashmi is passionate in leading the National Space Science and Technology Centre (NSSTC), and committed to making a difference to support the UAE to achieve its sustainability and knowledge-based economy goals - effectively focusing on acquiring core capabilities in design and building of satellites, earth observation, and planetary science, critical and strategic technologies Thrilled with the support getting from our strategic partners - UAE University, ICT Fund, UAE Space Agency, Tawazun, and Edge, in equipping the center with manufacturing, assembling, and testing facility for satellites, propulsion laboratories, and ground station. Currently, oversee the 813 Arabic Satellite and two other small satellite projects. Previously spearheaded the national space program for the UAE Space Agency inclusive of the program management of the UAE Mars Mission “The Hope” project and other technology demonstration and academic CubeSats projects. Visionary understood the need to establish an ecosystem to sustain the UAE space program - effectively lead and directed the development and implementation of the Space Science & Technology and Innovation roadmap across local universities and research centers in the UAE. He is passionate about the opportunities to support the establishment of the National Space Science and Technology Center and, Khalifa Space Technology and Innovation Center and initiating space science and technology projects in Sharjah University and New York University – Abu Dhabi. Held several roles in senior executive management positions that demanding critical business transformation as Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director, and Director at various Space, Aerospace, Oil & Gas industries, government administration, and state-owned enterprises in areas of Strategy, Business Planning, Organization Development, and Operations. Earned a Doctorate degree, an MSc in Thermal Power & Fluids Engineering from the University of Manchester graduated from Harvard Business School – General Management earned a Diploma in Public Sector Innovation from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Aerospace Engineering from Saint Louise University.
