Ajay Lavakare

Ajay Lavakare has donned many hats over his professional career: entrepreneur, product head, board member, angel investor, and mentor. After graduating from IIT and Stanford University, He started his career in Tokyo, Japan, where He worked with a large Japanese construction firm, using knowledge-based technologies to solve collaboration problems in the AEC industry. He returned to India to found a geospatial services company called RMSI. After the company was successfully acquired by a UK media enterprise, He moved back to the Bay Area where He worked with a catastrophe risk management company to build data solutions for the insurance industry. After a few years of learning product management Silicon-Valley-style, He returned to India as their head of India operations. And He also started building his angel investment portfolio. Over the last 8 years, He has invested in startups in data analytics. He is enthusiastic about the Indian startup ecosystem and enjoy working with and guiding entrepreneurs. He like to help mentor entrepreneurs in product strategy and via introductions to his professional network. Having been an investor and a board member for a while, He wanted to get back to entrepreneurship, and SmartVizX was a great opportunity. It felt refreshing to be on the other side of the term sheet and be able to apply his product management and startup experience to develop Trezi, an immersive technology-based hybrid SaaS product for the building industry.
