Eric R. Kandel

Eric R. Kandel is a current professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, where he also founded the Center for Neurobiology and Behavior. Kandel’s main interest is understanding how memory works, and in 2000, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his research on the physiological basis of memory storage in neurons. His 2006 book “In Search of Memory: The Emergence of a New Science of Mind” became a bestseller and was awarded the L.A. Times Book Award for Science and Technology
