Fellay Lab – Human Genomics of Infection and Immunity Laboratory

Fellay Lab uses large-scale genomics and bioinformatics to explore the impact of genetic variation on immune parameters and host-pathogen interactions. The research team's ambition is to shed new light on basic biological mechanisms and to pave the way toward more personalized approaches to medicine. At the crossroad between basic science and the clinical world, they are committed to translational genomic research, aiming at identifying, validating, and bringing to clinical use genetic markers of susceptibility to infectious diseases.

Fellay Lab has been working on the topic 'Host genetics of life-threatening SARS-CoV-2 infection in previously healthy patients'. This study is examining the genetic factors predisposing patients to develop COVID-19 in order to inform drug and vaccine development. The researchers will sequence the genome and the blood transcriptome of selected COVID-19 patients younger than 50 and without other risk factors yet who required ventilation in an intensive care unit. This line of research is relevant to the diagnosis and testing of COVID-19.
