Scentech Medical develops non-invasive, real-time screening solutions for infectious diseases that provide instant results, using a simple breath test. The technology detects the presence of unique metabolic processes that are associated with pathogens. Each pathogen has a different genetic expression, which creates a singular metabolic fingerprint that enables the Scentech Medical device, the Rapid Scent Test (RST), to identify different pathogens, even in the early stages of infection, when patients may be asymptomatic.
Scentech Medical has joined forces with the medical staff of Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba to conduct a trial aiming to map the Coronavirus fingerprint. During the trial, breath samples of patients with various stages of the disease will be collected and analyzed to identify the unique characteristics of the gases emitted by the Coronavirus.
Scentech Medical is owned by parent company Scentech, a microelectricalmechanical systems technology firm that identifies chemical compounds by measuring the mobility of ions in magnetic fields, and other investors. Scentech’s low-cost, portable sensor identifies chemical compounds in the environment, converting them into digital fingerprints that can be accessed by anyone, anywhere via a scent database library.
