This investigation aims to study the effects of spaceflight on the eye, and in particular the retina, using specimens from mice flown on the ISS as part of Rodent Research Reference Mission-1. Analysis of the specimens will enable a better characterization of eye tissue degeneration, the effects of aging on the eye, and the risk of spaceflight-associated neuro-ocular syndrome (SANS). The research team will perform tissue analysis and gene expression analysis of specimens from the spaceflight mice and compare the data with ground controls.
