ASTRI combines its ICT talents with sensors, intelligence, and next-generation network and security technologies to improve the way the city operates, shares information and, ultimately, improves the quality of residents' lives. ASTRI develops various tools and platforms that enable Smart City technologies to seamlessly communicate with each other. Their Smart City R&D efforts seek to deliver increased functionality in AI-assisted technologies and, with that, a better quality of life for the people of Hong Kong. They help to build a Smart Hong Kong whereby in a few years’ time, people will live symbiotically in a city that not only houses them but also helps them to thrive. ASTRI is a Spirit of Hong Kong, Powered by Technology Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited (ASTRI) was set up by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness in technology-based industries through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is organised under seven Technology Divisions, namely Mixed Signal Systems IC, Advanced Digital Systems, Electronics Components, Intelligent Sensing Technology System, Intelligent Software and Systems, Security and Data Sciences, and Communications Technologies.
