Centre for Artificial intelligence Research (CAiRE) provides research in all scientific, technological, societal, business and educational aspects of AI, to be carried out by the collaborative work of faculty and researchers from all four schools at HKUST, as well as HKUST Shenzhen Institute. They aim to establish CAiRE as the regional leader and global partner in AI research to benefit humanity and the society. After decades of research and development, artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to disrupt every industry in every walk of human life, from the financial industry, the health and medical industry, the retail industry, the legal industry, the creative industry, journalism, to the future of work and even human rights. Through the combined advancement of GPU platforms, availability of Big Data, and machine learning algorithms like neural networks, AI has reached a tipping point of large scale and pervasive applications. Their mission is Human-Centric AI Research for the Betterment of Humanity and Society.
