Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (UTAIL) AI Hub

Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (UTAIL) is established in 2005 as a part of Department of Intelligent Interaction Technologies at the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering, University of Tsukuba. They conduct a number of research and development in key technologies and systems for machine learning, robot vision, music technology, media engineering and robotics. The research topics include various fields such as humanoid robot; autonomous robot; machine learning; evolutionary computation; pattern classification; multimodal human-machine communication; environment recognition; sound database; music/sound signal processing, and Kansei (affective) computing. Their researches on artificial intelligence and subjective computing will also be tightly related to Cybernics research. Cybernics is a new domain of interdisciplinary academic field of human-assistive technology to enhance, strengthen, and support human's cognitive and physical functions, which challenges to integrate and harmonize humans and robots (RT: robotics technology) with the basis of information technology (IT) in a functional, organic, and social manner.
