Tethers Unlimited develops transformative technologies to provide capability improvements and cost savings for applications in space, sea, earth, and air. It was founded to develop products based upon space tether technologies. Tethers Unlimited has also expanded its focus to address technology needs for high-performance components for small satellites, robotic assembly and fabrication technologies, optical fiber winding and deployment, navigation sensors, SDR-based communications systems, and other technology areas. Tethers Unlimited was founded in 1994 as a partnership between [Robert Hoyt](https://www.crunchbase.com/person/robert-hoyt#/entity) and [Robert Forward](https://www.crunchbase.com/person/robert-forward#/entity). In 1997, the company incorporated as Delaware C-Corp, adding Arthur M. Dula to its board of directors. It is based in Bothell, W.A.
