Tibet Foundation was established in 1985 as a UK registered charity with the following main objectives: • To promote the culture, religion and the way of life of people of Tibetan origin; • To relieve poverty amongst Tibetan people; • To raise the standards of education and healthcare in Tibetan communities; • To preserve and support the continuity of Tibetan Buddhist culture, and create a greater awareness of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's message of peace. In furtherance of these objectives, the Foundation established four major programmes: 1. ‘Tibetans in Exile’ - to help Tibetans mainly in India and Nepal; 2. ‘Aid to Tibet’ - to help Tibetans living inside Tibet; 3. ‘Buddhism in Mongolia’ - to help the Mongolian people to revive and sustain their unique Buddhist tradition; 4. ‘Art and Culture’ - to promote the richness of Tibetan culture in the West The Patron of Tibet Foundation is His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
