Mildmay Mission Hospital NGOs

For over 30 years, Mildmay has been at the forefront of specialist HIV service delivery and care, and we continue to adapt and respond to meet new, often complex, and rapidly changing needs. Since 1998, Mildmay has also had a huge impact overseas - primarily in East Africa, delivering HIV services to those in greatest need. We continue to support our local NGO's in Kenya and Uganda. In 2020, Mildmay Mission Hospital began a ground-breaking new service providing step-down, rehabilitative healthcare for people who are homeless or rough-sleeping and recuperating from illness or injury. We also became the primary COVID-Care Centre for this cohort and for step-down HIV patients. Mildmay Mission Hospital has its origins in the work of The Rev. William Pennefather and his team of Christian women, later known as Deaconesses*, who began their work of visiting the sick of the East End during the Cholera outbreak of 1866.
