3H Fund (Helping Hands for Holidays) NGOs

Founded 45 years ago, thousands of people with disabilities have enjoyed a memorable and fulfilling holiday away from their everyday life. To many, it is what they spend the whole year looking forward to. If you know someone who has a disability, you will understand just what a 3H holiday could mean to them. Our grants programme assists families on a low income who have a family member with disabilities, to organise their own UK holiday. The grants are given for the accommodation part of the holiday and are paid directly to the chosen venue. The charity liaise with social workers and caring organisations to assist applicants and to identify those needing assistance. Carers can also be awarded a grant for a holiday away from their caring role. The 3H carers programme enables carers to spend a day at Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Park in Forest Row, East Sussex. Surrounded by the Ashdown Forest, the hotel offers relaxing treatments and therapies. The carers pamper day package includes: • Welcome soft drink • One 60 minute treatment • 2 course lunch • Use of the spa swimming pool • Afternoon tea.  3H organise subsidised group holidays for people with disabilities. Hereby giving their day-to-day carers a valuable period of respite at the same time. Many people with disabilities have thought that it was just not possible to get away independently but with our experience in organising accommodation, transport and activities, 3H can make it happen. Having Care Quality Commission registration, guests can be assured that our team of holiday leaders, experienced volunteers and medics will support and meet their care needs. The activity holidays may include Abseiling, Climbing, Canoeing, Horse Riding, Sailing and Zip Wiring. The evening activities give time for guests to socialise and make new friends. Our TeensOut programme enables existing organisations to continue their good work supporting teenagers who may be socially isolated due to their disability or their caring duties. 3H provides much needed funding to ensure clubs and groups are able to continue providing respite care during the school holidays and are given opportunities to try new activities.
